These terms govern access to and use of DomainWhois (the “Service”). By submitting a lookup, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service provides
The Service retrieves publicly available registration data through RDAP and DNS data through configured resolvers. It summarizes selected fields and may display raw responses. Data comes from third-party registries, registrars, IANA, DNS operators and other infrastructure providers; the Service does not create or control that data.
2. Permitted use
You may use the Service for lawful domain research, administration, security analysis and due diligence. You must comply with applicable law and with terms or notices included in upstream RDAP responses.
You must not use the Service to:
- conduct abusive, disruptive, deceptive or unlawful activity;
- harvest personal data, facilitate unsolicited marketing, stalking or harassment;
- evade rate limits, access controls or technical safeguards;
- submit automated, high-volume requests without written authorization; or
- interfere with the Service or any registry, registrar, resolver or network.
3. Availability and rate limits
Lookup limits and caching protect both the Service and upstream providers. Limits may change, and access may be slowed, rejected or suspended when necessary for reliability or security. A result indicating that no RDAP record exists is not a guarantee that a domain is available to register.
4. Accuracy and no professional advice
Results are provided “as is” and may be incomplete, redacted, delayed, cached, inconsistent or incorrect. DNS and registration data can change at any time. Verify important information directly with the relevant registry, registrar or DNS operator. The Service does not provide legal, financial, cybersecurity or domain-purchasing advice.
5. Intellectual property and upstream notices
The Service software, presentation and branding are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Raw registration and DNS data may be subject to separate database rights, acceptable-use rules and notices imposed by its source. Display through the Service does not grant additional rights to republish or commercially exploit upstream data.
6. Privacy and security records
Lookup activity and request metadata are recorded for security, abuse prevention, operations and related purposes as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not submit secrets or personal information as a domain query.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service provider disclaims implied warranties, including accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The Service provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, loss of data, profit or opportunity, or decisions made using Service results. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
8. Suspension and termination
The Service provider may restrict or terminate access when it reasonably believes use threatens the Service, violates these terms, harms a third party or creates legal risk. Provisions intended to survive termination—including disclaimers, liability limits and use restrictions—will survive.
9. Changes
These terms may be updated as the Service or law changes. The effective date above will be revised when a new version is published. Continued use after publication means you accept the revised terms.
